Two Norwegian oncologists, Drs. Mella and Fluge, published a possible
breakthrough for ME/CFS patients in the medical Journal PloS ONE on Oct. 19
th, 2011. They recently discovered a possible treatment for this
neuro-immune disease using the cancer drug Rituximab.
PloS ONE study:
http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0026358
The double-blind study was done on 30 Norwegian ME/CFS-patients and the
results are sensational. Two out of three patients experienced major
improvement, while some experienced a full recovery.
Dr. Mella and Dr. Fluge state that their study shows that the immune system
plays an important role in ME/CFS and strongly supports the theory that
ME/CFS is an autoimmune disease.

We at ESME think this is a very important step forward and hope that more
research involving Rituximab as a treatment for ME/CFS patients will follow.
ME/CFS is a serious neuro-immune disease and ESME is working to stimulate
biomedical research in Europe and worldwide.
Kind regards
