Contains: A mother has told how her healthy teenager was left unable to wal=

after falling ill with a urinary infection. Now Karen King is urging people
to help raise money for the hospital caring for her daughter.
Thirteen-year-old Hannah Russell fell ill in October last year with a
urinary infection, but it soon got worse and she quickly lost the ability t=
o
walk.
A month later she was diagnosed with ME (myalgic encephalopathy) which
causes severe fatigue, painful muscles, disordered sleep and poor memory ..=
.
=93They [Birmingham Children's Hospital] deal purely with children with ME =
and
psychological disorders ... The Bishop Perowne CE High School pupil is give=
n
intensive physiotherapy and is now able to stand with a frame. She also
attends the special hospital school, youth club and benefits from
counselling ... Hannah spends five days a week at the children=92s hospital
and comes home at the weekends. Her doctors hope she will make a full
recovery, but are unable to say when.
