Item: Whittemore-Peterson Study

The Whittemore-Peterson Institute in Reno takes another blow. "The
Journal Sciene" has taken the unusual step of retracting a
controversial report issued by the institute two years ago. The report
detailed the apparent discovery of a retro-virus called XMRV that
could cause the mysterious chronic fatigue syndrome but the study was
later discredited. Authors of the study then back-tracked,
acknowledging they took out important information about their
procedures.
