Woman with CFIDS like symptoms eventually diagnosed with Babesiosis

This article in my local paper does not specifically mention CFIDS but it is clear to me that this woman could easily have been diagnosed with it as she was very ill and bed bound for several years. After being dismissed by several doctors over the years she found one that has found she has Babesiosis, a tick-borne parasite that infects red blood cells. She is being treated and is starting to feel better. Unfortunately her insurance refuses to pay for treatment (I would guess because like chronic lyme the diagnosis is not officially accepted). Clearly more research is needed into infectious diseases and why some people become severely and chronically ill while the majority may never get ill.
