Reason: Jodi Bassett, despite herself suffering from a severe form of Myalg=
ic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) has campaigned and stood up for patients and ca=
rers from this incurable neurological disease with her website, her support=
groups and her published book "Caring for the M.E. Patient". She - and she=
is almost alone in this - defends ME sufferers from the demeaning (and com=
pletely inaccurate ) label "chronic fatigue" and has shown how much damage =
and additional suffering this mis-labelling and mis-diagnosis causes. Her w=
ebsite hfme.org is the only place to go for ME sufferers who can get inform=
ation on diagnosis, diet, rest, and all that is currently known about ME. =
Apart from a few rare doctors - Byron Hyde MD (USA) and Prof. Malcolm Hoope=
r (UK) - very few people really understand what ME is. (There is a huge amo=
unt of mis-information on the web and in the media). Jodi Bassett is doing=
a remarkable job to help her fellow sufferers worldwide and her unique an=
d on-going support for them fully deserves wider recognition.
