MED: DOD and MUPS

The Department of Defense maintains a Wounded Warrior website that continues
to include resources on what they refer to as Medically Unexplained
Symptoms. This appears to be in direct contradiction of the congressionally
mandated Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses
December 2008 report stating that Gulf War Illness is "real."
Links from the MUPS page include a fact sheet issued by the British United
Provident Association published in July 2008. For further information
readers of the sheet are referred to the Royal College of Psychiatrists
www.rcpsych.ac.uk. The fact sheet which also has links to CFS/ME and
fibromyalgia. At the bottom of the fact sheet is the following:

"This information was published by Bupa's health information team and is
based on reputable sources of medical evidence. It has been peer reviewed by
Dr Adrian Winbow MB, FRCPysch, DPM, Consultant Psychiatrist, Cygnet
Hospital, and by Bupa doctors. The content is intended for general
information only and does not replace the need for personal advice from a
qualified health professional."
