=20
RENO, Nev. =E2=80=93 The Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) has recently p=
ublished a=20
research study=20
revealing the prevalence of XMRV in patients with Myalgic=20
Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue=20
Syndrome, ME/CFS or what has most recently been called, X associated=20
neuro-immune disease, =20
(XAND). In response to an overwhelming request for a diagnostic test for X=
MRV,=20
WPI has temporarily=20
agreed to allow Viral Immune Pathology Diagnostics (VIP Dx) to begin offeri=
ng=20
the identical tests that=20
have been extensively validated using the same technology developed by Drs.=
=20
Lombardi and Mikovits=20
and their colleagues as reported in Science. =20
=20
VIP Dx is a small state certified laboratory in Reno, Nevada that was forme=
d in=20
response to the=20
September 11, 2001 crisis which resulted in the cessation of blood sample=
=20
shipments between the United States and Europe. Faced with the loss of=20
important lab tests impacting patients with neuro-immune diseases, the=20
Whittemore family made the decision to support the lab in Reno.=20
=20
=E2=80=9COur family made it possible for the lab to not only continue deliv=
ering=20
diagnostic tests to doctors, but=20
also help the WPI bring cutting edge biomarkers of disease to this field of=
=20
medicine, such as the tests for=20
XMRV,=E2=80=9D said Annette Whittemore, Founder and President of WPI. =E2=
=80=9CTests conducted=20
for XMRV, and=20
other tests that support the diagnostic process in this field, will support=
the=20
continuation of vital work at=20
WPI through our donation of all of our net proceeds.=E2=80=9D =20
=20
XMRV test acceptance commenced at VIP Dx this month. =20
