On September 14th, the Coalition 4 ME/CFS presented a proposal to theNati=
onal Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to reclassify chronic fatigue =
syndrome (CFS) as a neurological disease in the United States Internation=
al Classification of Diseases-10-CM (ICD-10-CM) and International Classif=
ication of Diseases-9-CM (ICD-9-CM).

Mary Dimmock, who prepared the proposal, and Marly Silverman, PANDORA fou=
nder and coalition steering committee member, presented the proposal on b=
ehalf of the coalition to the Coordination and Maintenance Committee at t=
he Center for Medicare& Medicaid Services (CMS) inBaltimore,Maryland.

The coalition will also be hosting a breakout session pertaining to the I=
CD-10-CM and ICD-9-CM at IACFS/ME Biennial Conference-Translating Evidenc=
e into Practice onSeptember 23, 2011 inOttawa,Ontario,Canada from12:45 =
- 1:45 p.m. This session will focus on giving an ICD meeting Coordinatio=
n and Maintenance Committee overview and getting input from the medical p=
rofessional community.

The Coordination and Maintenance Committee will be taking input from the =
public untilNovember 18, 2011 through email atnchsicd9CM@cdc.gov <mailt=
o:nchsicd9CM@cdc.gov>. We are encouraging the public to submit comments t=
o the committee and have furnished a sample letter for you on our website=
