I previously posted a message from the WPI page about the voting
period but pointed out it could be considered unofficial as the it
wasn't on the Vivint page (I like to be sure of things).
Anyway here are the official notes:
https://www.facebook.com/VivintHome
--------------
1) The first Vivint Gives Back matching period will begin on Thursday
July 21st at 12:00am (Midnight) MDT, and will end on Friday July 22nd
at 11:59 pm MDT. All funds donated to any of the top 100 charities
through the Vivint Gives Back project will be doubled by Vivint!
Double the amount of good you can do! Spread the word! What charity
will you be donating to on Thursday morning?
--------------
and
-------------
2) In less than 8 hours (midnight MDT) you'll be able to donate to the
charity of your choice, and Vivint will double your donation of up to
$50! The matching period will last for 48 hours, and all of the top
100 charities are eligible, so spread the word and raise some funds
for your favorite charity!
-------------
The four eligible groups, in alphabetical order, are:
- IACFS/ME International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & ME
http://www.iacfsme.org
- National ME/FM Action Network http://www.mefmaction.net
- Nightingale Research Foundation http://www.nightingale.ca/
- The Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease
http://www.wpinstitute.org
(Websites are given so people can find out about the organisations if
necessary - donating is not done through the sites according to the
info below).
---------
People can ask questions on https://www.facebook.com/VivintHome (or
read existing answers) so no questions for me please.
By the way, the voting period continues.
To vote, go to: http://www.facebook.com/VivintHome and click "like"
(one only needs to do this one day), then as many days as you can
thru' August 27, go to the page of your choice:
- IACFS/ME International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & ME
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/1124
- National ME/FM Action Network
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/855
- Nightingale Research Foundation
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/1129
- The Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/769
I think it's fair to say that only National ME/FM Action Network and
the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (WPI)
appear to have any hope of winning money in the voting contest.
A group who was getting more votes per day than the WPI for a period
has recently been disqualified so the WPI is a strong position as the
leader of the Pacific region to win $100,000. However, to win
$250,000 it would need a lot more voters. The National ME/FM Action
Network is in third place in its region (Canada) but needs to pick up
a lot more voters to get $100,000.
