Key researchers
Professor Simon Gilbody
Professor of Psychological Medicine and Health Services Research:
Simon's main area of interest is the management of common mental health=20
problems in primary care, and he has published widely on the value of=20
screening strategies and case management for depression. He collaborates =
with colleagues from the Universities of Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield =
and=20
Bristol on an MRC-funded trial of enhanced care for depression, and he =
is=20
principal investigator on the largest ever trial of computer-delivered=20
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Depression, funded by the Health =
Technology=20
Assessment Programme. Simon contributes to HYMS teaching in =
psychological=20
medicine, psychiatry, population health and evidence-based decision =
making.

Dr Barry Wright
Honorary Senior Lecturer:
Barry is a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist. He is clinical =
lead=20
(and clinical advisor to the Board) for child mental health services in =
the=20
North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust, and clinical lead for the=20
National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, which =
achieved=20
National Commissioning Group funding in April 2009, with bases in York,=20
London, Dudley and Taunton. Barry runs the Mental Health curriculum at =
HYMS=20
in Year 3, and sits on the school's Fitness to Practise Committee.
