This marks the public debut for Mt. Sinai's new ME/CFS research
center, launched by long-time ME/CFS clinician and Mt. Sinai
instructor Dr. Derek Enlander. It previously began signing up twins
for its first research project.
Orientation of the new center has a strong genomic slant. Scientific
head will be prominent scientist Eric Schadt, PhD, who took up the
new post of chief of Mt. Sinai's Institute for Genomics and
Multiscale Biology in August as well as the academic posting of Chair
of the
<http://www.mssm.edu/departments-and-institutes/genetics-and-genomic-sciences>Department
of Genetics and Genomics Sciences for the med school. Dr. Schadt is
"a visionary in the use of computational biology in genomics,"
according to his official Mt Sinai profile. He also will be keeping
his position as Chief Scientific Officer of Pacific Biosciences. It
seems that if he doesn't cure us he will at least enlighten us greatly.
Dr. Schadt will speak on "New Horizons in ME/CFS Genomic research,"
at 11:15, following brief opening remarks from Dr. Enlander.
Another intriguing newcomer to the ME/CFS scene, Mt. Sinai Medical
School Professor Dr. Miriam Merad, will speak on "potential
immunological applications in diagnosis and treatment of ME/CFS." Dr.
Merad has done extensive work on the roles of dendritic cells in
immune processes. http://www.mountsinai.org/profiles/miriam-merad
ME/CFS expert speakers will include Dr. Kenny deMeirlier, Dr. David
Bell and Dr. Derek Enlander.
Dr. Judy Mikovits and Dr. Jame Deckoff will participate in panel discussion.
Discussion are expected to reference Ampligen,GeMaf, MAF 314, Maf
878,Retuximab,CMX 001,Nexavir lotion and
